A 103-year-old New Jersey man plowed his car into an area Starbucks, shattering the storefront glass, after he accidentally shifted his car into reverse Friday, according to local reports.
The centenarian, whose identity was not immediately released, was not injured and did not injure anyone else in the 1:40 p.m. Hackensack collision, the Northern Valley Daily Voice reported.
The elderly man, who turns 104 in just weeks, did, however, significantly damage the exterior of the coffee shop when he rammed his 2017 Ford sedan into it.
“He accidentally put his car in drive instead of reverse and it went over the park stop,” Capt. Francesco Aquila of the Hackensack Police Department told the news outlet.
“Then he panicked and hit the gas.”
The building did not suffer any structural damage, but repair work was required before the shop could reopen, the news outlet reported.
