A man jumped to his death Monday afternoon from the 10th floor of a Midtown high-rise, according to officials.
The man, believed to be an employee at a law office operating out of The Helmsley Building at East 46th Street and Vanderbilt Avenue, first threatened to jump and then did so minutes later around 1 p.m.
An FDNY spokeswoman confirmed that the man, whose name wasn’t immediately released, died on the scene.
“I saw him on Friday … He was quiet and on his phone,” said a FedEx employee who made frequent deliveries to the deceased on the 11th floor. “It looked like he was stressed as hell.”
Police closed off Vanderbilt Avenue and provided crowd control for tourists attempting to photograph the tragedy.
A police source said the man was a mailroom employee at Satterlee Stephens LLP and was observed by witnesses jumping out the 10th-floor window.
