Car-surfing teen’s head crushed after she fell from hood: cops

Police in Texas said a car-surfing teen was critically injured when her head was crushed after falling off the hood.

Maria Hoover, 19, was on top of a Toyota Yaris around 10 p.m. Monday in a San Antonio parking lot when she was flung from the vehicle, mySanAntonio reported.

The car was reportedly traveling between 5 and 10 miles per hour outside a Wal-Mart at the time.

“She fell off and [the tire] came to rest on top of her,” San Antonio Police Department Sgt. T. Hardeman told the Houston Chronicle.

Five bystanders rushed to the teen’s aid, lifting the car off her head and pulling her out from underneath, according to the newspaper.

She was brought in critical condition to University Hospital, where she was treated for head trauma, officials said.

Police are investigating the incident but believe she may have been fooling around, according to the Chronicle.
