A 49-year-old math teacher has been arrested on suspicion of teaching while drunk at a high school in northeast Iowa. Court records say Daniel Reisner, of Sumner, has been charged with public intoxication. An officer sent Monday to West Central High School in Maynard said Reisner smelled of alcohol, had bloodshot and watery eyes and failed field sobriety tests.
According to the court records, Reisner’s breath test at the Fayette County Jail showed his blood alcohol level was .091, which is over the legal limit to drive in Iowa, reported Des Moines Register.
The 49-year-old math teacher and junior varsity basketball coach is due back in court next Tuesday.
Superintendent Fred Matlage said Reisner, who joined the West Central Community School District less than a year ago, has been suspended from work.
Reisner holds a master educator license from the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners.
