A 24-year-old man pummeled a woman unconscious as she walked in Manhattan early Saturday, cops said.
Devin Brown approached the unidentified woman at about 6 a.m. at the corner of Forsyth and Stanton Streets on the Lower East Side, where he punched her repeatedly in the face and about her body.
Cops did not know what provoked the attack, or whether Brown knew his victim.
The woman, who police said was in her 50s, was knocked out when first responders rushed her to Bellevue Hospital, police sources said. But she was in stable condition by the afternoon, cops said.
Brown was arrested and charged with assault and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said. Cops discovered that he had been carrying 11 small ziplock bags of marijuana.
