Pens removed from man’s stomach decades after he swallowed them

This guy had the write stuff!

Doctors in China removed two ballpoint pens from a man who swallowed them 36 years ago after losing a bet.

The 50-year-old man, identified only as “Wang,” said he swallowed the pens when he was 14 while he was drinking with some chums, according to UPI.

Wang figured the pens passed naturally years ago, and they turned up only when they showed up on an X-ray during a routine physical exam.

“I naively thought that the pens would digest in my stomach,” said Wang, according to Global Times.

Doctors noticed the writing instruments in his small intestine, laying side by side in his stomach right next to his spine.

Surgeons removed the ballpoints from his intestines on April 24 and Wang has been discharged from the hospital.

It was unclear if the pens still worked.
