Police arrest goat and place it in jail for eating grass of judge’s garden
A man in India was surprised to learn that police arrested his goat because it ate the grass that was growing on a judge’s lawn.
Chhattisgarh Police said that they have arrested the goat and its owner, Abdul Hassan, because the animal destroyed the garden of district Judge Hemant Ratre.
The goat has been charged with criminal damage, a charge that carries a prison sentence of up to 7 years and a fine.
Hassan has been charged with criminal trespassing and mischief causing damage.
According to the police investigation, Hassan lives near Judge Ratre, who has a mansion along with a large garden.
The judge plants different vegetables in his garden.
One day, Ratre noticed a goat jumping over his fence and eating the grass of his lawn.
He followed the goat to his neighbor and warned Hassan to keep the animal locked up.
However, Hassan ignored the judge and allowed his goat to roam freely.
On another occasion, the judge saw the goat eating the vegetables growing in his garden.
Ratre called the police who arrested the goat.
When Hassan came looking for his goat, police arrested him too.
