Host kills himself after accidentally killing his best friend at birthday party

A Michigan man celebrating his birthday committed suicide moments after he accidentally killed his best friend, cops said.

Zachary Woodcock invited friends over for his 21st birthday party at his Merrill home on Friday, and at some point pulled out a gun that he fired unintentionally, according to Saginaw County sheriff’s deputies, local channel WJRT reported.

When he realized he’d hit his friend, 21-year-old Richard Cody Skillman, in the chest, he went outside and turned the firearm on himself.

“From what I heard, they were best friends,” said Lt. Mike Gomez.

Cops said party-goers had been drinking alcohol before the tragic incident and that they recovered about 10 guns from the apartment and Skillman’s car.

“Any time there is alcohol involved and guns, that is a bad mix and almost nothing good is ever going to come of it,” Gomez said.

Woodcock’s family said they would be donating his organs to the organization Gift of Life and started a GoFundMe to set up a memorial fund in his honor.

Couple busted for keeping special-needs woman in shed as sex slave

A Michigan couple was busted for allegedly holding a special-needs woman captive in a shed and pimping her out for sex, according to authorities.

Michael Welch and Misty George are charged with selling the victim for sexual services in exchange for cash through online advertisements, Fox 2 reported.

The 29-year-old victim was initially allowed to stay in the couple’s home at a trailer park in Macomb Township, a suburb of Detroit, but was kicked out when she couldn’t pay rent.

She was housed in an empty shed located near the home and barred from using the shower or bathroom in the home.

Welch, 38, and George, 30, were nabbed following an anonymous tip to police. The victim fled the mobile home park and told her family members about what happened. They contacted authorities Sept. 12.

“Instead of helping this profoundly special-needs person, George and Welch took her support money, forced her to live rough in an outside shed, and sold her as a prostitute,” said Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith. “As your heart breaks for this vulnerable woman, your conscience is shocked by the abusive cruelty one human being is capable of showing to another.”

It’s unclear how the victim knew the couple or how long she was kept in the shed.

But Macomb County Sheriff’s Office Sgt. Renee Yax told the Detroit Free Press that “this whole incident spanned over a couple-month period” including the time she was staying in the home.

Welch and George, who are dating, were arraigned Tuesday on charges of human trafficking and accepting prostitution earnings.

Welch was held on $50,000 bond and George, who was also charged with using a computer to commit a crime, was held on $75,000 bond.

Dad finds Airbnb guest naked next to young daughter

A man renting a room as an Airbnb guest allegedly tried to sexually assault a 7-year-old girl at a home in Minnesota, where the girl’s father found the creep lying naked next to his daughter in bed, prosecutors said.

Derrick Aaron Kinchen, 28, of Lansing, Michigan, was scheduled to make his first court appearance Wednesday after cops, responding to a report of an attempted attack at the girl’s Minnetonka home, arrested the man Sunday — when they found him in a fishing boat wearing nothing but a suit coat, the Minnesota Star Tribune reports.

The girl’s father told cops that Kinchen was a guest in their home who rented a spare bedroom through Airbnb. He told police that he and his wife put the girl to bed in their bedroom and then heard Kinchen return to the home from a wedding around midnight.

About 15 minutes later, the girl’s father walked toward the bedroom and found the door open, with lights on inside the room. He said he soon spotted Kinchen lying nude next to his daughter.

“The defendant was naked and his penis was erect,” the father said, according to a statement of probable cause obtained by the Twin Cities Pioneer Press. “[The girl’s] nightgown was pulled up and [her father] could see [her] stomach and underwear.”

The man yelled at Kinchen, who then grabbed his suit coat and wallet before running out of the home.

Cops used a police dog to hunt for Kinchen, who was later arrested inside a “partly covered fishing boat” at a nearby home, according to the statement of probable cause.

“The defendant was naked except for a suit coat,” the document reads.

The girl later told police she woke up to find a naked Kinchen entering her parents’ room before he whispered something into her ear, making her think that he “wanted her to keep a secret from her mom and dad,” according to the statement of probable cause.

Kinchen pulled down her underwear and was touching his penis when her father walked into the room, the girl told police.

Kinchen remained jailed on $250,000 bail Wednesday and faces one felony count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct of a victim under 13, the Star Tribune reports.

Kinchen had no previous convictions for violent crimes or sex offenses, a source told The Post. Airbnb officials, meanwhile, said the “abhorrent behavior” reported by the girl’s family has no place in its hospitality service.

“We are focused on providing our host family with our full support, we are working with the local police to ensure they have our assistance, and we banned this user from our community,” company spokesman Ben Breit said. “Keeping our community safe is the most important thing we do. None of our hosts should ever have to deal with anything like this.”

This ‘a–hole’ rooster needs a new home

Take my rooster, please!

A fed-up woman from Michigan is giving away her “a–hole” rooster for free – because he wakes her up every morning at the crack of dawn.

Denell McCaul, of Clarksville, aired her grievances in a viral tongue-in-cheek Facebook post on July 26, according to Raw Story.

“At this point I don’t give a s–t what kind of home this inconsiderate jerk goes to: A–HOLE ROOSTER,” she said in the hilarious post.

“He’s the perfect rooster if your alarm is broken and you need to be awake at 5:30 a.m. That is his only setting, 5:30. He has no snooze button but will be quiet just long enough for you to fall back to sleep and then he’ll start back up with his obnoxious cock-a-doodle-doing right outside of your windows.”

McCaul’s rant continued, “It’s like he knows where you sleep and can zone in on that particular window so maybe he has some sort of special x-ray vision where he can see sleeping people behind walls.”

She said the crabby cock also doubles as an “interpretive dance” instructor.

“He is also a perfect rooster if you want to start running… around your yard… while you’re trying to get away from him,” McCaul wrote.

Her post was shared more than 74,000 times and racked up more than 36,000 comments.

It’s not clear whether McCaul had anyone take her up on her offer, though many suggested a more permanent solution – turning the rooster into dinner.

Woman accused of stealing flowers from graves gets jail time

FLINT, Mich. — A Michigan woman accused of stealing flowers from local cemeteries that authorities say she used to decorate her home has been sentenced to jail.

A judge in Flint sentenced Lisa Corcoran of Vienna Township on Monday to nine months in jail, with credit for 36 days already served. The Flint Journal reports she pleaded guilty in June to attempted larceny of items valued at between $1,000 and $20,000.

The 44-year-old Corcoran also will serve three years of probation and perform community service.

She was originally charged with larceny after authorities say more than 100 items, including a handmade bench as well as flowers, were taken earlier from 24 gravesites at two cemeteries. Corcoran was arrested after someone saw a car full of flowers leaving a cemetery.
