A man was fatally stabbed during a weekend wedding celebration on Long Island, police said.
Jose Collado-Nunez, 29, was arrested and charged with manslaughter in the first degree for allegedly knifing and killing 28-year-old Anyelo Rosario during the Saturday night reception at a home in Copiague, according to Suffolk County cops.
Collado-Nunez of Lindenhurst and Rosario of Copiague became involved in an altercation around 8:20 p.m. at the one-story residence on Vespucci Avenue, police said.
Rosario was rushed to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
Collado-Nunez was hospitalized with minor injuries.
The family of the bride told News 12 Long Island that Rosario was the boyfriend of the bride’s cousin and that the fight erupted over an insult.
“We were like excited, like it was the big day and then something like that happens … she’s really upset,” the bride’s sister, Katherine Reyes, said of her sibling.
Officials said Collado-Nunez had been drinking before the deadly incident.
