White House adds former Disney star to press team

A 22-year-old former Disney Channel star will join the White House press team, a new report said Wednesday.

Caroline Sunshine, who played Tinka Hessenheffer on the channel’s show about teenage dancers “Shake It Up,” formerly served as a White House intern and has some conservative bona fides despite her age, CNN reported.

“Caroline Sunshine was a White House intern. In college, she was involved with the American Enterprise Institute and an active member of her school’s Model United Nations team,” administration spokeswoman Lindsay Walters said in a statement to the network.

“Prior to her internship at the White House, Caroline interned for the Office of House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, the College Republican National Committee and the California Republican Party.”

Team Trump has yet to name a replacement for outgoing communications director Hope Hicks.

Sunshine’s role in the press office was not immediately clear.
